Before you can use the copier you will need to be granted access.
You can request access by emailing or visiting the front desk. If emailing please include the following:
Supervisor & Position
Full Name
Directory ID or UMD email address
Phone Number

Windows Installation

For users with PCs that are not joined to the Campus Active Directory you will need to use the installer below. For those with PCs that are joined to the Campus Active Directory (you use your Directory ID and Password to log into the computer) the application and printer should already be installed – if it isn’t please contact meIT.

Windows Installer for Personal PCs

Once installed you will have a printer named RICOH Copiers. If you want to customize your print job you can click on Preferences in the print dialog – from there you can then select options such as staple, hole punch, collate, and print two-sided.

macOS Installation

Below you will find two installers: the first one installs the drivers for the printers and the second one installs the printers themselves. Be sure to install them in order.

After installation you will have two new printers: RICOH Aficio MP 6002 and RICOH MP C5503. The 6002 is the B&W copier and the C5503 is the color copier – when you select the Printer Features in the print dialog you should see their designated options, with the C5503 giving you highly customizable color options. Both printers allow you to staple, hole punch, collate, and print two-sided. When printing you will need to input your Directory ID each time you send a print job.

Releasing Print Jobs

General Information

The copiers are located in the ME Main Office Mailroom (088-2181), with the RICOH Alicio MP 6002 to the left and the RICOH MP C5503 to the right (as you face them). The 6002 is a B&W copier and all print jobs released from that copier will print out as such, even if you specifically printed them in color. Conversely, the C5503 is a color copier and all** print jobs will print in color. At this time all print jobs are charged to the Department at $0.01 per B&W page, and $0.03 per Color page.

There is an exception: when sending a print job you can go into the printer preferences and choose to send the job in Black and White. This is handy if you want to walk up to either copier and print your job in B&W at $0.01 per page.
Card Swipe / Login

When you walk up to one of the copiers you will be presented with the option to tap the touchscreen and enter your credentials or use your swipe card**. If you don’t have your swipe card handy go ahead and tap the touchscreen and enter your Directory ID and Password to retrieve your print jobs. If you have your swipe card, you can use it with the black card reader on the right-hand side of the unit. If you have never swiped your card before you will be prompted to enter your Directory ID and Password, this will associate your card with your account – you will only need to do this once.

If the touchscreen is blank and the Energy Saver button is lit in blue press the button to wake the copier.

Once you have swiped your card (or entered your credentials) you will be prompted to select the account you want to charge. Currently, the Department is picking up the bill and the only option you will see is 1-123200 – Mechanical Engineering – tap on that entry to continue.

Release Job(s)

Next you will see a list of the print jobs you sent to the copiers within the last two hours*. You can tap each one individually and then tap Print to release the selected print jobs or you can tap Print All to release all the print jobs in your queue.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to swipe your card again (or tap Logout) before you leave, so the unit is ready for the next person.

In order to conserve resources on the server, print jobs are automatically deleted if you don’t release them within two hours.
